During the COVID-19 pandemic, Baptism times have been changed to 1.30pm

Baptism is the first sacrament that most Catholics receive.  On being baptised, we become a member of God’s family in a tradition that dates back to John the Baptist baptising Jesus in the waters of the Jordan.

In Howth we hold Baptisms on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month at 12.30pm.  The Baptism ceremony takes about 40 minutes.

There is a Baptism team to help prepare families for baptism and we meet with families once for a short overview of what’s involved.  The parish also produces a Baptism booklet which is used at each Baptism and which the families can take home after.
