Faith Development Group

This group, formally known as the Faith Formation Group was set up by the Howth Pastoral Council in 2006.  Its mission statement is:
"Faith is a gift from God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  It is also a journey, made with, in and through the love of God.  It begins as a seed, grows with nourishment, care and attention, and shows itself in love of self, others, and God.  Our role as Parish Faith Development Group is to facilitate parishioners on their journey of faith.  Some of the ways of facilitating this journey of faith may be to
  • develop programmes of faith development for the Parish
  • to help parishioners to express their faith in various ways
  • to hold events which would foster the faith of differnet groups
  • to liaise with other groups in the parish to further the above aims"
Some of the programmes we have initiated include:
Does Christianity have a future? (5 sessions in 2007)
Parish Mission 2008 (9 sessions)
The Recession and God 2009
The emerging Church - Christianity in search of its roots. (2009)
Christianity in stocktaking mode (2010 - 3 sessions)
The changing face of Morality (Nov 2010 - Feb 2011, 4 sessions)
We have seven members on the team and we are currently exploring ways of linking with the other three parishes in our cluster.
