Fifth Sunday of Lent  (11/16)

Eucharistic Adoration will not take place today, but will resume as normal for the Sundays of Lent next Sunday.  This is due to the concert taking place in the Church today.  “Have a Holy Hour every week.  Start praying.  Pray for guidance and trust in God."   Saint John Vianney

Howth’s Primary School, Scoil Mhuire will host a concert in the church today, Sunday 13th March at 4.00pm.  Featuring the OffBeat Ensemble and the School Orchestra, hear favourites from Harry Potter, Frozen, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jurassic Park, Looney Tune and much more.  Free admission, donations welcome towards the Violin Project.  All Welcome.

On Tuesday 15th March, an invitation has been extended to all parishioners to visit the local Primary School, Scoil Mhuire at 10am for a Flag Raising Ceremony.  To commemorate the 1916 events, there will be an exhibition of work created by the pupils in the School Hall.  Tea/Coffee will be served – all welcome.

Palm Sunday and Easter celebrations at the 10.30am Family Mass

Next Sunday, 20th March, is Palm Sunday and it marks the beginning of Holy Week.  On Palm Sunday we recall Christ’s triumphant procession into Jerusalem.  At the Family Mass on Sunday we will invite all the children to take part in our own procession and to watch the palms being blessed.  The full Passion will not be read at this Mass. The children are invited to the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday at 12 noon to hear the story of the Passion read and acted by the boys and girls of Scoil Mhuire.  On Easter Sunday we invite all families to our special celebration of Easter in colour and song.  There will be a gift for each child to remind them of the hope and joy which Easter brings.

The local Conference of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society will hold their monthly collection to-day – after all the Masses.

GOOD FRIDAY STATIONS OF THE CROSS  25th March 2016 at 8.00pm

In preparation for the annual celebration of the Stations of the Cross, Rehearsals are taking place in the church on Tuesday evenings, 6.50pm to 8pm.  The Stations will follow the usual format - costume, music and mime.  Please consider taking part in this event, which is always a most rewarding experience.  New participants are very welcome – next rehearsal Tuesday 15th March in the church at 6.50pm.

This is a creative performance, presented by Baily Productions, and takes the form of a 60 minute fusion of drama, music, song and dance, with snippets of the Irish language, woven together to create an entertaining show!  This production takes liberty with the facts while crisscrossing historic timelines to take the audience on an imaginative journey to the past and towards the future.  Venue: Howth Yacht Club. Dates: March 18th and 19th at 2pm and 4pm.  Tickets €5. Children with adult free.
