Sunday 7th February 2016

Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time  (06/16)

Wednesday next is ASH WEDNESDAY and the beginning of Lent.  Masses and distribution of Ashes  8.00 and 10.00am.  Ash Wednesday is a day of fast and abstinence.

The Family Mass at 10.30am next Sunday, 14th February, will be a special Mass of preparation for the children of the parish preparing for Confirmation.  The boys and girls of 6th Class in Scoil Mhuire will enrol in the parish programme of preparation as part of the “You shall be my Witnesses” Confirmation Programme.  We look forward to welcoming the candidates and their families to this Mass.

The 24th World Day of the Sick, takes place on Thursday 11th February, the Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdes.  We are inviting all parishioners and visitors to our church to record the names of those relatives or friends who are sick OR a carer to the sick to be remembered in our prayers on both the World Day of the Sick and all Masses on the following weekend, 13th/14th February.  There is a book at the back of the church into which all names can be written and there are prayer cards for both the sick and the carers.  Please feel free to take home the prayer cards which contain the prayers compiled especially for this occasion by the Archdiocese of Dublin.

The annual collection for ACCORD, the Diocesan Agency for Marriage and the Family, will be made at all the Masses next weekend, 13th/14th February.  This will replace the usual Share Collection.  Accord is a well known, respected and experienced agency that has in excess of 50 years experience working with couples and individuals, supporting them in their Marriages and Relationships.

You will be aware of the work carried out by the Society.  They urgently require new members to help provide support and friendship to people in need.  Direct person to person contact with people who request help is a core feature of the approach of the Society of St Vincent de Paul volunteers.  They provide support and friendship, they promote self-sufficiency and work towards social justice by advocating for the changes needed to create a more just and caring society for all.  For further information, pick up a flyer available on the tables in the church or contact the Parish Office  - Tel. 01-839 7398.

Sunday 25th to Friday 30th September 2016 - Price €895.00 per person sharing B&B.  If there are sufficient numbers interested, it is proposed that the parishes of Baldoyle, Howth and Sutton will organise a pilgrimage to Rome, to celebrate the Jubilee Year of Mercy.  Booking forms are available from the Parish Office, St. Fintan's Parish Centre, Greenfield Road, Sutton, Dublin 13. Monday - Friday 9.30am to 12.30pm. Tel: 01-839 2001 - Email:  This Pilgrimage offer is open for booking until 1st March when it will be reviewed to establish if there are sufficient numbers.  The day-to-day programme in Rome will be discussed and agreed in consultation with those who have booked to travel.
