Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time  (05/16)


Catholic Schools Week (CSW) will be celebrated between Sunday 31st January and 6th February.  The purpose of the week is to highlight and celebrate the wonderful contribution that Catholic Schools make to our local communities and society in general.  The theme for CSW 2016 is ‘Catholic Schools – Challenged to Proclaim God’s Mercy’.

Tuesday 2nd February is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord (Candlemas).  Candles will be blessed at the 8.00am and 10.00am Masses on 2nd Feb.  Wednesday 3rd February is the feast of St. Blaise -  The Blessing of Throats will take place after the 8am and 10am Masses on that day.

Proclaiming the Word

Helen Norton will bring the best out of readers by working on their use of voice as they proclaim God’s word in the liturgy.  This one off session will take place in Clonliffe College on Thursday 4 February from 8.00 – 9.30 p.m.  Booking is required – Tel. 808 7554   €5 contribution is invited.


Morning Masses at 8.00 and 10.00.  The Masses on the first Friday of the month are offered for those whose names are on the Parish Altar List of the Dead.


Howth Parish Bible Study Group continues on Friday 5th February in St. Columbanus Hall at 10.45am.  All are welcome.

St. Fintan’s Parish, Sutton are hosting a Week of Guided Prayer from Sunday 6th March to Saturday evening 12th March.  It is an opportunity to participate in a retreat with a difference, a 'Retreat in Daily Life', or a 'Busy Person's Retreat'.  It is a way of making a retreat in the midst of daily living, as by taking some quiet time each day on your own, you are enabled to find God in your everyday life, in all its ups and downs.  The Retreat will take place in the Parish Pastoral Centre at St. Fintan’s church.  During the weekdays participants will meet with their guide for about 30 minutes.  Booking forms will be made available shortly and more information to follow.

Mindfulness Meditation with Joe Clarke

Meditation resumes in St. Columbanus Hall tomorrow evening, Monday 1st February at 7.30pm.

The story of a Howth Cottage by Bernie Nestor

Howth Peninsula Heritage Society donated the proceeds of this publication, a Memoir of Mudoak Cottage by the late Bernie Nestor, to St. Francis Hospice.  The amount raised was €1,500.
