Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time (42/14)


The annual period of Solemn Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament (40 Hours’ Adoration) will take place this week-end  - (26th and 27th October).  The Exposition will begin at 2.00pm today (Sunday) and will continue until 5.30pm.  There will be Evening Prayer to-day   (Sunday) at 5 o’clock.  The Exposition will continue after the 11 o’clock Mass tomorrow - Bank Holiday Monday (27th October) and will conclude with a Eucharistic Prayer Service and Benediction at 5 o’clock.  


Vigil Mass on Friday 31st Oct at 7.00 p.m.  Saturday 1st Nov Mass at 10.00a.m.  Sunday 2nd November is the Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed.


The Annual Mass for all those buried in the two Cemeteries in the Parish – Saint Mary’s and Old Abbey – will take place on Sunday 2nd November in the Church at 3 o’clock.  The Blessing of the Graves in both Cemeteries will take place immediately after the Mass.

Project Messiah 2014 - The Messiah is coming- will you sing?

Last year choir members and congregation members from 37 parishes in the diocese joined forces and sang Handel's Messiah.  Building on that success we will be performing on November 29th in Whitefriar St.  Blanaid Murphy , Director of Palestrina will lead rehearsals and conduct the choir and orchestra again this year. Envelopes for the Altar List of the Dead are available in the Church.  Kindly fill in the names of those you wish to have remembered.  Please complete and return to the Parish Office/Sacristy.  The Masses on the first Friday of every month are offered for those whose names are on the Parish Altar List of the Dead.


Our Lady's Choral Society with the RTE Concert Orchestra will perform Mendelssohn's ELIJAH in the National Concert Hall on Weds. 5th November.  Soloists include Orla Boylan, Kate Allen, Julian Hubbard, David Park and boy soprano Andrew Jones.  Our Lady's will also be joined by Galway Baroque Singers and Wesley College Chamber Choir.  This concert should not to be missed and will be performed for one night only.  Tickets available from NCH.

A new Internet series on spirituality in Howth is being conducted in the form of filmed interviews.  Tune in to to enjoy insights and stories from people you'll recognise from around the peninsula.  The series started in August 2014 and two new interviews are broadcast each month.


On Tuesday 28th October at 8.00pm FERGUS MULLIGAN will give a lecture in the Howth Angling Centre, West Pier, on “William Dargan:an Honourable Man”.  Admission to non-members of the Society is €5  All welcome.

School of the Word

A series of talks on the Old Testament and its place in the Liturgy of the Word will take place in Holy Trinity Parish, Donaghmede.  The series is presented by Fr. Kieran O'Mahony, OSA.  Fr.Kieran is an Augustinian, living in Orlagh community and working for the diocese of Dublin, providing biblical resources.  Dates: Thursday evenings 7.30 to 9.00 p.m.  30th October, 6th, 20th and 27th November, 6th Dec.  This series comes highly recommended and more information may be had from or the Parish office.
