Information Meeting for Parents, Guardians and Parishioners

Tuesday 18th October 8.00 p.m.

Venue: Scoil Mhuire, Howth Primary School

Earlier this year, the children of Howth Parish who received their First Holy Communion in May, participated in a very successful programme of preparation working in partnership with their families, their schools and the Parish here in Howth.  We shared many moments of vibrant liturgical celebration together on a very unique journey towards the day of the children’s First Holy Communion.

Once again we invite parents and parishioners to join together to support the children from our Parish who are preparing to receive Jesus in First Holy Communion in 2012.  As parents we brought our children to the Church to be baptised and so initiated this special journey in our child’s religious education.

We invite you as parents, guardians and parishioners to a special meeting where this programme of preparation will be presented.  We look forward to your involvement at the meeting and throughout the programme.                                           Howth Family Mass Group

The Missionaries of Africa work in 22 countries in Africa from the Sahara down to South Africa.  They witness to the Gospel of Jesus and face the challenges of Africa today, bringing education and especially hope and relief to all who are suffering particularly the sick (AIDS), the ever-growing number of orphans, street children, refugees and the many who live below the poverty line.  Fathers Ian Buckmaster and John O’Donoghue will be speaking at the Masses today.  Both have worked in Africa for many years.

The preparation journey toward the Eucharistic Congress has been divided into four stages – GATHERING, WORD, EUCHARIST, MISSION - each reflecting on an aspect of communion with Christ and one another as it is celebrated in the Eucharist and lived in our daily lives.  On Wednesday 19th October at 8pm in the Parish Centre, Sutton, we will be reflecting on STAGE TWO of our journey -  THE WORD OF GOD – using material providing by the Orlagh Retreat Centre.  The session will focus on The Word is Near and examines how near the Word of God is to us all.  All are welcome to attend especially Ministers of the Word.  For more information contact James in Sutton Parish Office, 839 2001 or
