Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time (06/15)

ACCORD

The annual collection for ACCORD, the Diocesan Agency for Marriage and the Family, will be made at all the Masses next weekend, 14th/15th February.  This will replace the usual Share Collection.  Accord is a well known, respected and experienced agency that has in excess of 50 years experience working with couples and individuals supporting them in their Marriages and Relationships.

WORLD DAY OF THE SICK 2015

World Day of the Sick is celebrated on Wednesday 11th February, the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes.  Archbishop Martin will celebrate Mass with Anointing of the Sick in St. Canice’s church in Finglas at 3pm on Sunday 8th February to mark this occasion.  The diocese has asked each parish to mark this special day in their own way.  Here in Howth, we have prepared a book into which we invite you to write the names of those who are sick and of those who care for the sick.  All these names will be remembered especially during Masses on the weekend of 7th/8th February and on Wednesday 11th February.  This book will be open in the church from 4th February and throughout the week leading up to World Day of the Sick.  Pope Francis has issued a special address for this occasion and copies will be available in the church.  The prayer of Pope Francis for the Sick will also be available on small cards to take home and to give to those who are sick or caring for the sick.

ST. FINTAN'S PARISH HOLIDAY

This year is the 1400th anniversary of the death of St. Columban.  His tomb is in the crypt of the basilica dedicated to his name in the town of Bobbio situated in the foothills of the Apennines south of Milan.  The proposal is to stay in the hilltop town of Bergamo, take an excursion to Sotto il Monte the birthplace Pope St. John XXIII, sightsee and shop in Milan taking in the magnificent Cathedral, La Scala Opera House, Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper and then go for a relaxing day and night in Bobbio.  If there is an expressed interest, a day-to-day programme will be prepared for perhaps June or August/September 2015.  Please indicate your interest to St. Fintan’s Parish Office, Sutton as soon as possible.  Tel.: 01 8392001, 9.30am to 12.30pm, Monday to Friday.
