EASTER SUNDAY                                                                                   (14/12)

THE PRIESTS OF THE PARISH WISH YOU THE PEACE, JOY AND HOPE OF EASTER DAY.  THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR KINDNESS.

EASTER MONDAY: Mass at 11.00 a.m. followed by Miraculous Medal Novena Prayers.  Tuesday to Friday inclusive: Mass at 8.00 a.m. and 10.00 a.m. as usual.

A MARY GARDEN FOR OUR CHURCH

Flowers have long been associated with Our Lady.  It was the 6th Century Co. Kilkenny monk St. Fiacre who first dedicated a garden to Our Lady.  By the Middle Ages many flowers and herbs had popular names connecting them to Our Lady and Mary Gardens made up exclusively of such flora came into being.

Since Our Lady is patron of our Church, some parishioners suggested that the flower beds left and right of the steps to the main door be re-planted as a Mary Garden.  Bríd Kelleher who prepares our beautiful Easter Garden designed our Mary Garden and planting has commenced.  It will take time for it to mature and additional Mary flora will be added from time to time to reflect the changing seasons.  A guide to the garden and its contents is in preparation.

Our Mary Garden will hopefully offer a prayerful greeting to those approaching our Church and is something special to have done in this year of the Eucharistic Congress.

It's coming!  Are you going?

Only nine weeks to go to the opening of the International Eucharistic Congress on Sunday 10th June when thousands of pilgrims from overseas and from all parts of Ireland will gather at the RDS in Ballsbridge for this week long Congress of the universal Church.  From Canada alone,1,000 have registered to attend.

The Congress theme of Communion with Christ and with one another is very much about hope, reconciliation and renewal for which we are nourished by Christ's Body in the Eucharist.  We cannot claim to have a real communion with Christ if we do not seek a communion with our fellow human beings.  One aspect of the Congress will be to try and discern what communion with one another truly means in our place and time.  The Congress concludes on Sunday 17th June with the Statio Orbis - an open air Mass for 85,000 to be held in Croke Park for which 24 parishioners have booked their places.  Three or five day tickets to the Congress that include the Statio Orbis option can still be bought on line.  Visit www.iec2012.ie to book or find out all that is happening or just pick up the card "It's coming! Are you going?" on the Church bookstand that tells you where to get more information.

OUR DEAD

Please remember in your prayers, BARNEY McKENNA, who died suddenly during the week.  We offer our sympathy to his family.  May he rest in peace.  The funeral will take place in St. Patrick’s Church, Trim on Monday 9th April at 12.30 p.m.
