BAPTISM PREPARATION TEAM LAUNCHED
To help parents prepare for the Baptism of their children, a parish Baptism Preparation Team has been formed.  Two Team members meet in advance with parents who have arranged Baptism for their child.  They explain the Sacrament's deep significance and the rich symbolism of the rites performed. They also go through the ceremony's details.  The aim is to enhance the experience of Parents, Godparents and Families participating at a Baptism.  Team members also attend Baptisms to look after the reception of families and guests and to assist the celebrant.  To date, the Team comprises eight parishioners who have undergone special training for the work. They also sat in on Baptism Preparation meetings in other parishes.  In addition a team member has designed and produced a lovely Baptism booklet for use at the ceremony.  Others have worked on the format and planning of the meetings. The work dovetails with similar parish programmes already being undertaken with children for First Communion and Confirmation.  On Tuesday 30th November, Howth's first Baptism Preparation Meeting was attended by the parents of three children for Baptism during December. Such meetings will be held monthly as parents request Baptism for a child.  We wish every blessing on the Team in its ministry.
