Thirty First Sunday in Ordinary Time (44/13)
ANNUAL CEMETERY MASS
The Annual Mass for all those buried in the two Cemeteries in the Parish - Saint Mary’s and Old Abbey – will take place to-day, - Sunday in the Church at 3 o’clock. The Blessing of the Graves in both Cemeteries will take place immediately after the Mass.
ANNUAL CROSSCARE/CATHOLIC YOUTH CARE (C.Y.C.) COLLECTION
The Annual Collection for CATHOLIC YOUTH CARE (the Diocesan Youth Service) will be made at all the Masses next week-end (9th and 10th November) This collection will replace the usual SHARE collection.
Catholic Youth Care supports and services youth work and youth ministry throughout the Dublin Diocese. Through their various services and programmes to young people and youth groups, they reach out to many of the most marginalised young people in the Archdiocese.
First Holy Communion 2014
The Parish Programme of preparation for First Holy Communion 2014 begins next Sunday at the 10.30am Family Mass. The children of the parish preparing for First Holy Communion will be enrolled in the programme and this special Mass will feature a renewal of baptismal promises. First Holy Communion is the next step after Baptism in the sacramental journey of faith for our young children. This is why the children themselves will make their baptismal promises, something that their Godparents did for them at Baptism. We look forward to welcoming all the children to the Mass on Sunday next.
THE QUOTABLE POPE FRANCIS
“Instead of being just a Church that welcomes and receives by keeping the doors open, let us try also to be a Church that finds new roads, that is able to step outside itself and go to those who do not attend Mass, to those who have quit or are indifferent. The ones who quit sometimes do it for reasons that, if properly understood and assessed, can lead to a return. But that takes audacity and courage.” Pope Francis - in a long ranging interview at www.americamagazine.org 30th September 2013
