Lent begins this week and Trócaire’s Lenten Campaign this year focuses on the global water crisis.  The Lenten box features Enestina, who is a nine year old girl from Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world.  Throughout Lent we will be using resources from Trócaire to provide a weekly reflection, prayers of the faithful and other ideas for homilies. See for more details.

Youth Group Transition Year Programme

On Wednesday last the Howth/Sutton Parish TY programme held its 5th session of this school year.  The 34 TY students worked on designing their ideal community in which to live.  The students worked in teams to create inclusive, holistic towns with facilities and services for all members of the community.  There was great planning and drawing before each team presented their ideas.  Local Fianna Fail senator, Averil Power, talked to the students about the importance of their input to society and then commented on their innovative designs.  The next event for the TY students is hosting a Bingo night for the residents of Kilrock House on Wednesday 12th March at 7.30pm.  The TY students have three more sessions in this year’s programme which finishes with a day of spiritual reflection in Stella Maris in May.

On next Sunday, 9th March, the 10.30am Family Mass will be the fourth preparation Mass in the Parish Programme of Preparation for First Holy Communion.  We again welcome the boys and girls of the parish and their families to this special Mass, which will focus on reconciliation as we begin Lent together.  There are just two months remaining to the First Holy Communion day for the children of Scoil Mhuire and we ask all the parish community to join us in this special Mass next Sunday.

Morning Masses at 8.00 and 10.00.  The Masses on the first Friday of the month are offered for those whose names are on the Parish Altar List of the Dead.
