The Presentation of the Lord              (05/14)

 

To-day - Sunday (2nd February) is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord (Candlemas).  Candles will be blessed at all the Masses to-day.  Tomorrow – Monday 3rd Feb. is the feast of St. Blaise.  Throats will be blessed after the 8am and 10am Masses.

 

HOWTH PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL

The current Parish Pastoral Council was established in October 2013 and is now beginning to lay out plans for the coming year.  It is intended to keep parishioners informed on progress via the Parish Newsletter and the Parish Website

Mission Statement of the Howth Parish Pastoral Council :

To promote and develop the Christian life of the Parish.

That our Parish will remain and be further enriched as a family of God's People.

Howth Parish Ministry of Welcome

The PPC would like to form a Parish Ministry of Welcome team whose role will be to make newcomers and visitors feel at home in our Parish and especially at Masses and Services in the Church.  Parishioners wishing to volunteer for this ministry are invited to give their name and contact details to the Parish Secretary.  Training will be provided.

A REFLECTIVE ENERGISING DAY

Wednesday 5th February  10.00 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD

The Ministers of the Word proclaim the Good News at all the Masses in the Parish, during the week and at weekends.  We currently need some more readers for the 8 am Mass on weekdays.  If you are interested in reading at this Mass or at any other please contact Kay Burke or Mary Kirwin through the parish office.  Tel. 01-839 7398

 

Friday 7th February - First Friday of the Month.  Mass at 8.00 and 10.00 a.m.  All the Masses on the First Friday will be offered for those whose names are on the Parish Altar List of the Dead.

Mindfulness Meditation

Mindfulness Meditation continues in St. Columbanus Hall Monday 3rd February at 7.30 p.m. with Joe Clarke.  All are welcome.

FEAST OF OUR LADY OF LOURDES

Relic of St. Bernadette in St, Anne’s Church, Portmarnock, 11th February at 3.00pm beginning with Prayer Service and ending with individual blessing of Relic of St. Bernadette.  All are very welcome especially the sick.

 

WORLD DAY OF THE SICK 2014

The Dublin celebration for World Day of the Sick will be led by Archbishop Diarmuid Martin with the Eucharist and the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick in the Church of St. Therese, Mount Merrion on Sunday 9th February at 3.00pm.

 

THE THREE TENORS IN CONCERT AT ST. FINTAN’S CHURCH 21st FEBRUARY 2014

Tickets are now available in the Sacristy for The Three Tenors Concert, which will take place in St. Fintan’s Church, Sutton, on 21st February 2014.  Tickets -  €25,  are also available from the St. Fintan's Parish Office, 9.30am to 12.30pm and from Coffeys of Sutton, Unit 6 Superquinn Shopping Centre, Sutton.

PARKING AT CHURCH

It has come to our notice that a number of parishioners who parked cars on the double yellow lines on the Thormanby Road side of the church have received parking tickets.  The Garda have indicated they will not allow parking on double yellow lines around the church at any time.
