Third Sunday of Lent  (09/16)


There will be Eucharistic Adoration in the church at 4.00pm to-day, followed by Evening Prayer and Benediction at 5.00pm.


The Annual Novena of Grace will take place in the Church, beginning on Friday 4th March at the 10.00am Mass.  Saturday 5th March, Novena Mass at 10.00am. Sunday 6th March, Novena Mass at 12noon.  Mon to Sat 7th to 12th March, Novena Mass at 10.00am.  Fr. Bernard McGuckian, SJ will launch the Novena at the 10am Mass on Friday 4th March.


Next Sunday, 6th March, will be the second Mass in the parish programme of preparation for Confirmation.  The pupils of 6th Class and their families will take part in the Mass in a special way and we look forward to welcoming the Gospel Choir to celebrate with us.  On Sunday 13th March we welcome the pupils of 2nd Class and their families for their next Mass in the preparation programme for First Holy Communion.  We look forward to seeing the pupils' special flowers on display on the side noticeboard.


Howth’s Primary School, Scoil Mhuire will host a concert in the church on Sunday 13th March at 4.00pm.  Featuring the OffBeat Ensemble and the School Orchestra, hear favourites from Harry Potter, Frozen, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jurassic Park, Looney Tune and much more.  Free admission, donations welcome towards the Violin Project.  All Welcome.


The local Conference urgently require new members to help provide support and friendship to people in need.  Direct person to person contact with people who request help is a core feature of the approach of the Society of St Vincent de Paul volunteers.  They provide support and friendship, they promote self-sufficiency and work towards social justice by advocating for the changes needed to create a more just and caring society for all.  For further information please contact the Parish Office  - Tel. 01-839 7398.

THIRD PRINT OF MUDOAK   The story of a Howth Cottage by Bernie Nestor 1995

This is a nostalgic Memoir by Bernie Nestor of her life growing up in an isolated cottage overlooking Howth Golf Club on Howth Hill.  It is a social history covering several generations.  It will appeal to a wide readership as well as to the people of Howth.  Published by the Howth Peninsula Heritage Society at €5.00 and sold in aid of St. Francis Hospice, Raheny.  Copies are available in the Sacristy from Barbara or Tel. 01- 839 7398


St. Fintan’s Parish, Sutton are hosting a Week of Guided Prayer from Sunday 6th March (7.30pm) to Saturday evening 12th March.  It is an opportunity to participate in a retreat with a difference, a 'Retreat in Daily Life'.  Places are still available.  Contact Sutton Parish Office Tel. 839 2001.  The Retreat will take place in the Parish Pastoral Centre at St. Fintan’s church.

Mindfulness Meditation with Joe Clarke

Meditation continues in St. Columbanus Hall tomorrow evening, Monday 29th February at 7.30pm.

“First up, Best Dressed - Perennials for Spring Colour"  James Wickham will present a Talk in the Howth Yacht Club, on Wednesday 2nd March at 8pm.  James is a well-known Horticulturist and Garden Designer.  He worked on the BBC Gardener's World Magazine as writer and continues to write for several magazines as well as leading garden tours and lecturing.  All welcome.

Howth/Sutton Lions Club is holding a special Church Gate collection in aid of St Francis Hospice, Raheny.  The collection will take place after all Masses next weekend (5th/6th March).  Your support for this very worthy cause will be much appreciated by the Hospice and by the Lions.

The Peninsula Society Annual Cake Sale will take place at St Fintan’s Parish Centre, Greenfield Road, Sutton to-day - Sunday 28th February from 10am to 1pm.  All proceeds will go to Cappagh Hospital Foundation.
