National Mental Health Week celebrated at Kilrock House

The HSE home at Kilrock House hosted a great get-together for residents, neighbours, friends, teachers & TYS students last Tuesday afternoon to promote mental health in the most positive light.  Almost 100 guests enjoyed a memorable session of music, dance and chat in this home of historic importance built in 1875 for the then Chief Justice, the Right Hon. Gerald Fitzgibbon.  Mental Health Ireland laid on a very informative display of literature for young and old alike, while CEO Brian Howard informed the gathering of its valuable work.  In true parish fashion neighbours brought buns, cakes, pastries, biscuits and refreshments, while local artists and musicians, too many to name, laid on some great music.  A particular thank you is due to Janette Franklin, Clinical Nurse Manager at Kilrock House for taking the initiative and for all her hard work in organising the day.  We thank the residents and staff at Kilrock House for inviting us into their home for such an afternoon of enjoyment.

Give your husband or wife a special gift of an enriching weekend away with you from the 9th – 11th November in the Lake Hotel, Killarney or from 30th November to 2nd December at the Dromantine Conference Centre (near Newry) Co. Down.  A weekend with a difference, that will help deepen your commitment to one another and enrich the joys you share together, whether you are recently or many years married.  For details and bookings visit: or Tel. 064-664 4319 or 01-832 4429

Please remember in your prayers BREFFNI EAMONN O’MOORE who died recently.  We offer our sympathy to his family.  May he rest in peace.

Tax Rebate on certain Donations to Parish in 2011

Charities can reclaim from the Revenue Commissioners tax paid on certain donations which they [the charities] receive.  The Finance Committee recently asked eligible donors to the parish to complete tax rebate forms in respect of their 2011 donations.  We would like to thank sincerely those who have already returned completed forms and would be very grateful if those who intend to reply, but have not done so yet, would do so soon. The deadline for submitting claims is approaching.

The recently formed Howth Gospel Choir will make its concert debut when it performs with Irish and International star Red Hurley at a concert in Howth Golf Club on Friday, 9th November at 8.00 p.m.  Highlight is expected to be their joint rendition of that great hymn "How Great Thou Art".  Tickets from Howth Golf Club Bar.
