 FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER                                                                                (17/13)

“YOU SHALL BE MY WITNESSES…”   PARISH PREPARATION FOR CONFIRMATION PROGRAMME

The third session takes place on Tuesday 30th April in Scoil Mhuire at 7.30pm.  The topic this week is How can I be a Christian?  They look at how the gifts of the Holy Spirit will help them in the challenging task.  How often are we aware of the Gifts of the Spirit as we go about the daily business of being as good as we can be?   Which of the gifts – Wisdom, Understanding, Right Judgement, Courage, Knowledge, Reverence, Wonder and Awe in God’s Presence – do we unwrap every day or sometimes do we just leave them in their packages unopened?   Which gift can we unwrap this day?

Special Masses of Preparation: Today at the 10.30 Family Mass we welcome the young people of the parish who will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation next month.  This is the last of the special Family Masses for Confirmation.  We are delighted that the Howth Gospel Choir will sing at the Mass.  We thank all the parents, parishioners and teachers who are involved in the preparation of the Mass and all the members of the choir.

FRIDAY 3rd MAY - FIRST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH

Morning Masses at 8.00 and 10.00.  Evening Mass at 8 o’clock.  All the Masses on the first Friday of the month are offered for those whose names are on the Parish Altar List of the Dead.

FATIMA AND THE YEAR OF FAITH

The Church teaches us that while we are not obliged to accept the Message of Fatima, it recommends it to us because “Such a message can be a genuine help in understanding the Gospel and living it better …”  (Theological Commentary on Fatima, issued by Catican 26 June, 2000)  The Message of Fatima includes a request for the Five First Saturdays Devotions.  These take place in our Church on the first Saturday of each month after the 11.00 a.m. Mass and conclude before midday.  The next session will be on Saturday 4th May.  All are welcome.  A leaflet explaining the devotion is available at the Book Stand at the back of the Church.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

The 11 o’clock Mass on Saturday, 11th May, will be the First Holy Communion Mass for the pupils of Second Class in Howth’s Primary School, Scoil Mhuire.  We remember them in our prayers.
