Sunday 27th September 2015 Twenty Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time (38/15) Why has God given us the Eucharist? This is the theme for an afternoon of reflection on the Eucharist with Fr Bede McGregor OP on Sat 3rd October 2015 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm beginning at St Columbanus Hall, Main Street Howth and transferring later to the Church. Organised by the Parish Adoration Group, the afternoon features a talk by Fr Bede, discussion, tea/coffee, followed by half an hour of silent prayer adoration (in the Church). It concludes with Benediction. There will also be an opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Those who seek a deeper understanding of the Eucharist are particularly encouraged to attend. After 10 years a missionary in India, he spent 30 years engaged in priestly formation in Maynooth. He is a noted theologian, author, retreat leader, youth evangeliser and has broadcast a series of TV talks. He is Spiritual Director to the worldwide Concilium of the Legion of Mary. TRANSITION YEAR PROGRAMME Do you know a student in Transition Year? The Howth/Sutton Transition Year Programme is a local project for TY students focussed on youth leadership, personal growth and responsibility and community project involvement. The Programme runs once a month for a half day during the school year. This will be the eighth year of the project and TY students living in Howth and Sutton are invited to register. Registration forms are available to from www.howthparish.ie. Places are limited to 30 and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. BIBLE STUDY GROUP The Acts of the Apostles Howth Parish Bible Study Group continues on Friday 2nd October in St. Columbanus Hall at 10.45am. All are welcome. LIVING WITH LOSS An information evening about bereavement with guest speaker Jane McKenna (founder of The LauraLynn Children’s Hospice Foundation) November is traditionally a month for remembrance. This Irish Hospice Foundation event aims to provide information about grief and the range of supports available to bereaved people. Members of the public are invited to attend this free public event: Thursday, 5th November 5.30pm - 8.00pm Alexander Hotel, 41-47 Fenian Street (off Merrion Square), Dublin 2. There will be an opportunity to chat to voluntary bereavement support services about the supports they provide. During the evening Jane McKenna will address the gathering and speak on the theme ‘Living with Loss’. (10.30am) The Folk choir are looking for singers and musicians to join them. Children from age 8 upwards, teenagers and adults who are interested are all welcome to join.
