Spirit of Howth” Photography Competition 2015
Howth Photographic Club invite entries to The Charlie McDermott “Spirit of Howth” Photography Competition 2015. Junior section up to 16 and Adults section over 16 Photographs will be judged on the extent to which they reflect the “Spirit of Howth” in the widest sense of people, scenery, activities, culture or heritage. Photos can be black and white or colour ranging in size from 6”x 4” up to 12”x 8” un-mounted. First Prize €100 Second Prize €50 Third Prize €25 Prizes in both the Adult and Junior sections Send / deliver your entries (maximum 3 un-mounted photographs) to Sean Briody, c/o McDermott’s Pharmacy, Main Street, Howth with your name, address, phone number and the age category entered clearly printed on the back ( preferably on an adhesive Label). Closing date for entries is Friday 3rd July Entry Fee to the Adult Section is €2 per entry or a maximum of 3 entries for €5. Entry to the Junior Section is Free. Prizes will be presented on Friday July 10th 2015 at 7pm in the Old Courthouse Harbour Road Howth.
ECUMENICAL BIBLE WEEK
Ecumenical Bible Week begins next week from Pentecost Sunday to Trinity Sunday 24th – 31st May. The theme for 2015 is “What is the Spirit saying to the Churches?” A series of presentations will be offered in a range of venues, aimed at the interested ordinary believer or enquirer. The general area is the Bible but looked at from different perspectives—film, music, ethics, law and so forth, as well as more obvious approaches such as prayer (lectio divina) or how to organise a Bible Study group. HOWTH PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING
The Parish Pastoral Council will meet with Parish Based Groups with a view to increasing membership of the Council and to identify ways forward for the good of the Parish. Invitations are being issued to the representatives of each Group. The meeting will take place on Tuesday 26th May at 8.15pm in the Parish Hall (St. Columbanus).
Kilbarrack Cemetery will hold their annual prayer service in the cemetery on Sunday 31st May at 3.00pm.
HOWTH CHAMBER MUSIC
Howth Chamber Music presents two exceptional and distinct concerts on Friday May 29th and Saturday May 30th in St. Mary's Church, Deer Park at 8.00pm. With internationally renowned musicians Alasdair Beatson on piano, Philippe Graffin and Mia Cooper on Violin, James Boyd on Viola and Amy Norrington and Dominic Dudley on Cello playing Ravel, Faure and Hersant on the Friday evening and Schubert's Trout Quintet on Saturday. Mindfulness Meditation with Joe Clarke
Meditation continues in St. Columbanus Hall on Monday evening 25th May at 7.30pm.
Meditation will also take place on Tuesday morning 26th May from 11.00am in St. Columbanus Hall. No booking required – all are welcome.

HOWTH PENINSULA HERITAGE SOCIETY - MAY LECURE
On Tuesday 26th May at 8.00pm ANTHONY KINSELLA will give a lecture in the Howth Angling Centre, West Pier, on “O’Reilly the Spy” The fascinating story of an Irishman landed from Germany as a spy in Ireland. Admission to non-members of the Society is €5 All welcome.

HOWTH SUMMER PROJECT 1st to 10th July 2015
Enrolments and Bookings for this year’s Summer Project will take place on Sunday 14th June from 9.00 am to 1.00pm and on Monday 15th June from 10.00am to 11.00am in Saint Columbanus Hall, Main Street, Howth. Bring last year’s badge and enrol for €4.00 - without badge enrol for €5.00 Lots of activities including Quasar, Swimming, Bowling, Arts & Crafts, Cookery, Hockey, Fun with Food, Fancy Dress Disco, Basketball, Bouncy Castle & Giant Slide, Soccer and Knock-Out. All the Leaders are Garda Vetted for the safety of your children and as this is completely voluntary, it is the cheapest Summer activity around.

Howth Challenge Series Volunteers / Helpers Required. The 6th Howth Aquathon will be on Monday 25th May from 7 - 9pm. This is a three part series seeing over 200 people out swimming and running in Howth. Would you be able to volunteer your time to help support this event?
