Sunday 22nd March 2015 Fifth Sunday of Lent (12/15) SUNDAYS OF LENT There will be Eucharistic Adoration at 4.00pm to-day, followed by Evening Prayer at 5.00pm. Eucharistic adoration continues every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the Church. See the noticeboard for times. Palm Sunday and Holy Week for families Next Sunday is Palm Sunday, and at the 10:30am family Mass we will be celebrating the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem, as happened on the first Palm Sunday. Please note that palms will be blessed at this Mass but the full Passion will not be read. Celebrations suitable for children during Holy Week include a “quiet” Mass on Holy Thursday at 5pm and the children’s Stations of the Cross at 12 noon on Good Friday. On Easter Sunday, 5th April, we will have a special, colourful celebration of this great feast at the usual 10:30am family Mass. RECONCILIATION SERVICE WITH INDIVIDUAL CONFESSION IN PREPARATION FOR EASTER This Prayer Service will take place on Monday 30th March at 8.00pm in the Church. The Service will be conducted by Father Ray Staunton, SM. There will be a number of visiting Confessors. GOOD FRIDAY STATIONS OF THE CROSSOnce again we look forward to celebrating the Stations of the Cross in the Church on Good Friday in costume, mime and music. Please consider taking part in this presentation, which is always a most rewarding experience. If you are in any way interested in Drama or Mime or in giving a hand on the night, please come to rehearsal, which will take place on Tuesday 24th March and 31st March at 7.30pm in the Church. The Children’s Stations of the Cross will be presented here in the Church of the Assumption by the children of Howth Primary School at 12 noon on Good Friday, 3rd April. SPRING SHOW Howth and Sutton Horticultural Society will hold their Spring Show on Saturday 28th March and we welcome visitors between 2.30 - 4.30 pm. Come along and enjoy the exhibits, our fabulous plant sale where you may pick up some rare plants together with great plant information and advice from our experts, our book sale and then relax with a cup of tea/coffee at the delicious cake stall. The show is held in St Nessan's Community School, Moyclare Road, off Warrenhouse Road, Baldoyle, Dublin 13. ADVOCATE COLLECTION The Sunshine Fund of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is holding its Annual Collection next weekend – (29th and 30th March) after all the Masses. Please be as generous as you can – all funds raised will be used to provide much needed holidays for deserving children. The Sunshine Fund is a special works conference of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society.
