ALTAR SERVERS
The Parish Pastoral Council is planning to re-establish a team of altar servers to be available for Masses in the parish. To facilitate this, a group of parishioners has been established to train and supervise the servers. Altar servers have a very special role in assisting the priest during Mass and especially preparing for the Consecration. If your son or daughter would be interested in joining this team, please call to the Parish Office (Sacristy) and leave your name with the Parish Secretary.
BIBLE STUDY GROUP
On Friday 26th September, at 11.00 a.m. a meeting will take place in the Parish Hall (St. Columbanus Hall), to discuss the possibility of establishing a weekly Bible Study Group.
All are welcome.
THE POWER OF A MOTHER’S LOVE
In February 1999, Mags Riordan’s only son, Billy was drowned in Lake Malawi in Africa. He was just twenty five. He had visited the small African country on several occasions and had grown to love the country, its people and in particular the village of Cape MacClear. It was ironic that in his last letter to his mother, he referred to Cape MacClear as paradise. He lost his life in paradise less than 48 hours later. “This is Paradise” is the story of Mags Riordan and the Billy Riordan Memorial Clinic she founded in Malawi ten years ago, in memory of her son. Tomorrow evening, Monday, 22nd September, the King Sitric Restaurant will host a Book Reading and Signing by Suzanne Strempek Shea. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 7.00pm and donations to the clinic will be gladly accepted and appreciated. All are welcome.
