Posted by Dorothy Heydon FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER (16/13) ANNUAL COLLECTION FOR FORMATION OF STUDENTS FOR PRIESTHOOD
To-day is Vocations Sunday. The Annual collection for the formation of students for priesthood in the Diocese of Dublin is being held at all the Masses this weekend. This collection will replace the SHARE collection. Thank you for your generosity to this collection in previous years.
“YOU SHALL BE MY WITNESSES…” PARISH PREPARATION FOR CONFIRMATION PROGRAMME The second session takes place on Monday 30th April in Scoil Mhuire at 7.30pm. The topic this week is What do I Believe? - an appropriate topic for this Year of Faith. They will explore in depth the Nicene Creed that we say at Mass most Sundays. They will also talk about the people who influenced their Faith and about the prophets ancient and modern who inspire us in our Faith Journey. When we say the Creed today maybe we can listen more carefully to what we say and also remember at Mass those who help us in our Journey.
Special Masses of Preparation: On next Sunday 28th April at the 10.30 Family Mass we welcome the young people of the parish who will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation next month. This is the last of the special Family Masses for Confirmation. The young people and their parents will take an active part in the Liturgy on that day and The Howth Gospel Choir will sing at the Mass. We thank all the parents, parishioners and teachers who are involved in the preparation of the Mass. HOWTH CHAMBER MUSIC A violin Project has been launched in Scoil Mhuire, Howth’s Primary School. 35 violins have been purchased which have allowed 150 children from Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class to learn violin during school hours. It is modelled on the project launched by Sr. Bernadette in Crumlin. The objective is to be able to extend this project to all local schools as well as to adults in the local community. The organising committee aim to do this through fundraising from concerts and other events. A Howth Chamber Music Festival will take place in May with three concerts given by five classical musicians who will perform over the weekend 16th to 18th May 2013. On Saturday 18th May, a concert will take place in the Church at 8.30 p.m. The programme will included Mozart, Mendelssohn and Schumann.
