Twenty Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time  (Mission Sunday)                           (42/13)

To-day is World Mission Sunday.  The second collection at all the Masses will be for the Missions and will replace the usual SHARE collection.

The combined parishes of Baldoyle, Howth and Sutton, are working together and hoping to implement the new revised timetable.  The parish of Baldoyle has two churches and only one priest serving there, hence the reason to bring in scheduled changes.

At the weekend, there are now 13 Masses celebrated in the four churches instead of 17 and the weekday Masses are now 6 in number (down from 8).  Together with these Masses, please note that in Howth, there are two nursing homes to be catered for and Stella Maris Retreat House.  The Sisters have kindly agreed to conform to whatever the parish decides, consequently the convent Mass is now transferred to the 8.00am daily Mass (Mon to Fri) in Howth.

With regard to Howth, the following are the changes – No 7.00 pm Mass on Sundays, from October 20th.  No 11am Mass on Saturdays from October 26th, No 8.00pm Mass on First Fridays.  Holy Day Masses will be a Vigil Mass at 7pm; 10am and 7pm on the Day.  Copies of the new schedule for Howth Parish are available on the tables in the Church.

Confirmation Programme 2013/14

This year we shall again use a parish programme of preparation called You Shall Be My Witnesses.  This programme aims to help parents and parish become more actively involved in the sacramental preparation for Confirmation.  There will be an initial meeting for all parents of the young people who will receive the sacrament of Confirmation this year on Thursday 24th October in Scoil Mhuire at 7.30pm - a letter with further information was distributed in class Monday last.  Parents' attendance at this meeting is essential.  If you are unable to attend for any reason please contact Allyson O’Rourke on 086-8228769

On Wednesday 30th October, a concert will take place in the BURROW NATIONAL SCHOOL, Sutton at 8.00 p.m.  Performers on the evening will include Philippe Graffin, Amy Norrington, Alasdair Beatson, Gwendolyn Masin and Lilli Maijala.  The Chamber Group will also perform in St. MARY’S CHURCH OF IRELAND, Deerpark, on Friday, 1st November at 8.00 p.m.  Tickets  - €15 are available to buy from Finola Young (Centra), and the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Church Roof Fund , St. Mary’s Church of Ireland, Deerpark, Howth.

The Fingal Joint Policing Committee will host a Public Meeting for Sutton, Howth and Baldoyle areas on Wednesday, 23rd October at 7.30 p.m. in Suttonians Rugby Club, Station Road, Sutton.  At public meetings of the JPC an opportunity is provided for local residents to make observations, and address questions to local Gardaí and to representatives of Fingal County Council on matters relating to crime and anti-social behaviour, with a view to improving public safety within their local community.  If you have any queries or require any further information please contact Martina O’Connor on 01 890 5730.

Please note that the Church will be closed from 4th to 7th November 2013, to facilitate essential WOODWORM TREATMENT.  The Church will re-open on 8th Nov.

Please remember in your prayers FRANCIS HIGGINS who died last week.  We offer our sympathy to his wife and family.  We also pray for GREGORY MEEHAN who has died.  We offer our sympathy to his wife and family.  May they rest in peace.
