Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (28/15)

SAINT VINCENT De PAUL SOCIETY

The local Conference of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society will hold their monthly collection to-day – after all the Masses.

HOWTH PARISH  -  BIBLE STUDY GROUP

BRINGING FAITH TO LIFE  continues on Friday 24th July at 11.00am in St. Columbanus Hall.  All are welcome to participate.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Eucharistic adoration is held on three days a week throughout the year in our Church.  For information and times see brochure and/or notice board at the back of the Church.  "The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the best time you will spend on earth.  Each moment that you spend with Jesus will deepen your union with him and make your soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in heaven, and will help bring about everlasting peace on earth."  -  Mother Teresa

Church Gate Collection

Alex Fearon and Daniel Keane (fifth year students) will be travelling to Calcutta in November as part of a group of fifteen students from Belvedere College.  This social justice programme has been running since 1995 and the students fundraise to support a number of projects and then work for two weeks on those projects in Calcutta.  In some of the poorest areas of Calcutta and in the most basic of conditions, they teach street children and those who work as child labourers. They also help to care for the destitute and dying in the hospices set up by Mother Teresa, giving some degree of dignity back to these people who have nothing.  All of the money they bring with them goes directly to the poor of Calcutta and does make a difference to the lives of some of the poorest people in the world.  On the weekend of 8th & 9th August, Alex and Daniel, along with family and friends, will carry out a fund-raising collection in the parish of Howth.  All the funds raised will go towards this charity work, every euro is worth 70 Rupee in India so the money goes a long way.

SOCIETY OF SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL - Annual Clothing Appeal

The Society of Saint Vincent De Paul is seeking your help in its Annual Clothing Appeal.  The appeal is for clean, good-quality clothes, bed-clothes, curtains and shoes.  Bags will be distributed next weekend - Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th July 2015.  The collection of the bags will take place on Sunday 2nd August DURING THE MORNING MASSES ONLY.  The Society is conscious of the tremendous support given by the Parishioners of this Parish over the years and thank you most sincerely on behalf of those you have helped.

Thursday 30 July (8pm) to Sunday 2 August (2pm) Spend some time apart in an unhurried and peaceful way: a real ‘Sabbath time with God’ for yourself.  In an atmosphere of gentle quiet, participants will be helped to ponder Scripture and to become attentive to the signs of God in their lives and in the world around them.  There will be some suggestions for prayer using images from art, poetry and music.  Space for personal quiet time and some sharing will be built into the day.  Opportunities for guided and common prayer or to meet a spiritual director will be among the options available.  Please Tel. 01 8331352 or email reception@manresa.ie to book your place.
