Third Sunday of Easter (16/15)

First Holy Communion 2015

Next Sunday, at the 10.30am Family Mass, we will celebrate the final Mass of preparation for the boys and girls preparing to receive their First Holy Communion on May 9th.  Please come along to support and pray for the children and their families as they get ready for this very important day in their parish and spiritual life.

First Holy Communion for the pupils of Second Class in Howth’s Primary School - Scoil Mhuire, will take place on Saturday 9th May at 11.00 a.m. in the Church.  We remember them in our prayers.


The Sacrament of Confirmation will be administered to the pupils of 6th Class, Howth Primary School - Scoil Mhuire, on Friday 22nd May at 1.00 p.m. in the Church.  We remember them in our prayers.

Fr. Oliver McCrossan, SSC, Columban priest, will preach at all the Masses this weekend, 18th/19th April


Next Sunday – 25th/26th April, SPECIAL COLLECTION TO SUPPORT THE FORMATION OF STUDENTS FOR THE PRIESTHOOD   This collection will replace the SHARE collection.  Thank you for your generosity to this collection in previous years.


The local Conference of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society will hold their monthly collection to-day – after all the Masses.


On Wednesday 22nd April, an Evening for anyone interested in Funeral Ministry will take place at Holy Cross College, Clonliffe at 8.00pm.  There will be input on the process of grieving, lay leadership at funerals and working towards the preparation of Guidelines for Funeral Ministry Teams.  Anyone is welcome to attend, contact Barbara in the Parish Office Tel. 01-839 7398


Bringing Faith to Life is a programme that addresses some of the issues that modern life raises and offers a way to develop or deepen our Christian Faith.  This programme continues on Wednesday 22nd and 29th April at 7.30pm in The Presbytery in the grounds of Ss. Laurence O'Toole Church, Baldoyle (beside Lidl).  Each session will consist of a video presentation followed by a conversation based on reflective questions.


Please remember in your prayers UNA ELENOR CHAPMAN who died recently.  Funeral Mass will take place on Monday 20th April at 11.00am and thereafter to St. Fintan’s Cemetery.  We offer our sympathy to her family.  May she rest in peace.

Mindfulness Meditation with Joe Clarke

Meditation continues in St. Columbanus Hall on Monday evening 20th April at 7.30pm.

Meditation will also take place on Tuesday morning 21st April from 11.00am in St. Columbanus Hall.  No booking required – all are welcome.

Howth Ladies Pitch & Putt Club is now open for new members.  The Club plays each Sunday morning throughout the year at Deer Park and offers ladies a friendly and healthy atmosphere and an opportunity to meet new friends.  Experienced golfers and beginners are welcome.  For more info contact Barbara - 086-253 6167

Sea Speak Storytelling proudly presents “Prawn Tales”, in which we will bring you three Storytelling Sessions over two days and as part of The Dublin Bay Prawn Festival.  Come along and share Stories, Songs and a good laugh on: Thurs 23rd April, 7pm-9pm, Kruger’s, Main St. and Sat. 25th April at 12:30-1:00pm and 3:30pm-4:00pm at The Dublin Bay Prawn Festival Arts & Heritage Marquee on Harbour Road, near the East Pier.


Howth Parish Bible Study Group continues on Friday 24th April in St. Columbanus Hall at 10.45am.  All welcome.  

Howth Pathways is a local environmental group that cuts and maintains traditional pathways on the peninsula.  Our work programme for 2015 starts on Saturday morning 25th April with us taking part in the An Taisce Spring Clean in the woods at the back of the Deer Park Hotel.  If you are free any Saturday morning from April to September and would like to help out please contact -Barry Lacey on 087-258 0582 or email
