The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity will be observed from 18th – 25th January 2016.  Its inauguration in Dublin will take place at an interdenominational service in St Paul’s Church, Arran Quay, Dublin 7 tomorrow evening, (Monday 18th January)  at 8.00pm.  The Very Rev. Dr. Kenneth Newell OBE will preach the sermon.  This year’s theme, “Salt of the Earth”(1 Peter 2:9-11) was chosen by the Christian communities in Latvia.  The theme highlights the relationship between baptism and proclamation, and the calling shared by all the baptised ‘to proclaim the mighty acts of the Lord’.  The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is a privileged moment of prayer, encounter and dialogue.  It is an opportunity to recognise and receive the richness and value that are present in the other, the different, and to ask God for the gift of unity.

Please remember in your prayers, ARTHUR BROPHY who died recently.  We offer our sympathy to his family.  We also pray for RICHARD O’CARROLL who has died.  Funeral on Monday 18th January at 11.00am.  We offer our sympathy to his mother Rita and all the family.  We also pray for WALTER FOLEY who died suddenly during the week.  We offer our sympathy to his wife Shelagh and all the family.  May they rest in peace.

Westmeath.  Presented by three married couples and a priest, the weekend is a residential workshop that offers married couples with a good relationship the opportunity to explore, renew and enrich what they already have in a way that completely respects their privacy.  It is very much about spouses being in a unique sacramental relationship that involves not only them but also God, their family and the wider community of the Church.  For lots more information see the website or telephone  087-784 0408.
