Sunday 17th April 2016

Fourth Sunday of Easter (16/16)

To-day - Sunday – (16th/17th April)  SPECIAL COLLECTION TO SUPPORT THE FORMATION OF STUDENTS FOR THE PRIESTHOOD.  This is an opportunity for us all to reflect on our Baptismal calling to live a life of grace and holiness and to pray for and foster vocations to the priesthood and religious life.  This collection will replace the SHARE collection.  Thank you for your generosity to this collection in previous years.

Pope Francis has launched a special appeal for humanitarian aid for Ukraine.  Next Sunday, 24th April, 50 % of the ordinary SHARE Collection will be donated to the Pope's appeal.  “I think in Europe of the tragedy of those who are suffering the consequences of violence in Ukraine: of those who remain in lands shocked by the hostilities which have already caused thousands of deaths, and of those - over a million - forced to flee from the grave situation which is ongoing.  It involves above all elderly people and children.  Besides accompanying them with my constant thoughts and with my prayers, I have decided to promote humanitarian support in their favour.  For this purpose, a special collection will be taken up in all Catholic Churches in Europe on Sunday, 24 April.  I invite the faithful to join in this initiative with a generous contribution.  This act of charity, in addition to alleviating material suffering, seeks to express my personal closeness and solidarity and that of the entire Church.  I sincerely hope that it may help to promote, without further delay, peace and respect for law in that land so afflicted.' (Pope Francis)

You are warmly invited to a Parish Assembly this Tuesday evening, 19th April from 7.30pm to 9.00pm.  The Assembly will reflect on the future development of the parish and plan our pastoral priorities in the year ahead.  The Assembly will take place in the church and all parishioners are welcome.  If there are any particular issues you would like discussed, please submit in writing and leave into the Parish Office/Sacristy.  Come along to your Parish Assembly and have your voice heard - Being there, you can make a difference!  The Assembly will be facilitated by Ms. Eilis Monaghan.

Howth Parish Bible Study Group continues on Friday 22nd April.  St. Columbanus Hall - 10.45am.  All are welcome.

Grateful thanks to all who took part in the Trócaire Lenten Campaign.  Please return your Trócaire boxes to the Sacristy.

Please remember in your prayers LIAM HAYES who died during the week.  We offer our sympathy to his mother Breda, his partner Jane and all the family.  May he rest in peace.
