Fourth Sunday of Lent (11/15)

Celebrating those Baptised in 2014

To-day -  Sunday, 15th March during the 10:30 am Family Mass, all of the children baptised in Howth in 2014 will be especially celebrated.


There will be Eucharistic Adoration at 4.00pm to-day, followed by Evening Prayer at 5.00pm.


Eucharistic adoration will not take place on Tuesday, 17th March, as it is Saint Patrick's Day.  Adoration will resume as usual on Wednesday morning, 11am on 18th March.


Come along to the 10.30am Mass on Tuesday and enjoy some Traditional Irish Music to celebrate our Patron Saint – St. Patrick.


Tuesday 17th March is Saint Patrick’s Day and a Holy Day of Obligation.  Mass Times  : Vigil Mass Monday 16th March at 7.00pm.  Tuesday 17th March : 8.30am, 10.30a.m. and 12 noon.  Please note that there is no evening Mass on St. Patrick’s Day.


A talk by John Murray of the Iona Institute on "The Redefinition of Marriage and the Rights of Children" takes place to-day – Sunday, 15th March at 2.00pm at the Capuchin Friary, Raheny Road, Raheny, Dublin 5.  All welcome.

Association of Catholics in Ireland [ACI] - 'Open Forum on the Family'

Pope Francis has urged the lay faithful to engage actively in the consultation process in advance of the 2015 Synod on the Family.  To assist in facilitating this vital consultation, the ACI will host an ‘Open Forum’ on the Family’ in the Regency Hotel, Drumcondra, on Saturday 21st March 2015.  The ‘Open Forum’ will include a number of short presentations on the real ‘lived experiences’ of people surviving on the margins of the church.  The presentations will address marriage break-down, second relationships, inter-faith marriage and sexual orientation.  Small group workshops will address the main topics in the Synod Lineamenta.  The event will conclude with a plenary session.  The programme, which will be facilitated by Dr. Margaret Nugent from NUIM, will commence at 11.00 am on Saturday 21st March.  Registration on the day from 10.30 am.  Everybody is Welcome to attend.


The Howth Chamber Music Committee is proud to bring you another instalment in a series of concerts.  Thanks to the success of the inaugural festival and your ongoing support, the committee are delighted to welcome to Howth, Amy Norrington, Pablo Benedi and Alasdair Beatson for a concert in our Church on Saturday 28th March at 8.30pm.  Tickets - €15 are available by calling Tel. 087-167 1993 or visit  The programme will include Haydn, Beethoven and Brahms.

The local Conference of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society will hold their monthly collection to-day – after all the Masses.

Mindfulness Meditation with Joe Clarke

Meditation continues in St. Columbanus Hall on Monday evening 16th March at 7.30pm..



This year is the 1400th anniversary of the death of St. Columban.  His tomb is in the crypt of the basilica dedicated to his name in the town of Bobbio situated in the foothills of the Apennines south of Milan.  The proposal is to stay in the hilltop town of Bergamo, take an excursion to Sotto il Monte the birthplace Pope St. John XXIII, sightsee and shop in Milan taking in the magnificent Cathedral, La Scala Opera House, Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper and then go for a relaxing day and night in Bobbio.  Cost: €895.00 per person sharing. BIBLE STUDY GROUP   Saint John’s Gospel

Howth Parish Bible Study Group continues on Friday 20th March in St. Columbanus Hall at 10.45am.  All welcome.  

SEA SPEAK STORYTELLING Sessions will meet this Thursday 19th March, from 7pm-9pm, at Kruger’s, Main St. Howth.  This special show kicks off the World Storytelling Day celebrations.  Our theme this month is “Into the Wishing Well”.  We will have scheduled Storytellers, including our Host Daria Walsh and Paul H.
