PROPOSED REFERENDUM ON MARRIAGE A talk by John Murray of the Iona Institute on "The Redefinition of Marriage and the Rights of Children" takes place to-day – Sunday, 15th March at 2.00pm at the Capuchin Friary, Raheny Road, Raheny, Dublin 5. Association of Catholics in Ireland [ACI] - 'Open Forum on the Family' Pope Francis has urged the lay faithful to engage actively in the consultation process in advance of the 2015 Synod on the Family. To assist in facilitating this vital consultation, the ACI will host an ‘Open Forum’ on the Family’ in the Regency Hotel, Drumcondra, on Saturday 21st March 2015. The ‘Open Forum’ will include a number of short presentations on the real ‘lived experiences’ of people surviving on the margins of the church. The presentations will address marriage break-down, second relationships, inter-faith marriage and sexual orientation. Small group workshops will address the main topics in the Synod Lineamenta. The event will conclude with a plenary session. The programme, which will be facilitated by Dr. Margaret Nugent from NUIM, will commence at 11.00 am on Saturday 21st March. His tomb is in the crypt of the basilica dedicated to his name in the town of Bobbio situated in the foothills of the Apennines south of Milan.
