Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time (07/15)


Wednesday next is ASH WEDNESDAY and the beginning of Lent.  Masses and distribution of Ashes – 8.00 and 10.00am.  Ash Wednesday is a day of fast and abstinence.


The annual collection for ACCORD, the Diocesan Agency for Marriage and the Family, will be made at all the Masses this weekend, 14th/15th February.  This will replace the usual Share Collection.

BRINGING FAITH TO LIFE  Are you questioning your faith?  Do you struggle to find answers to address questions raised by your experience of life?  Is your prayer a dry experience or non-existent?  Do you wish to do something about it?  Bringing Faith to Life is a programme that addresses some of the issues that modern life raises and offers a way to develop or deepen our Christian Faith.  3 sessions will be held during Lent and 3 sessions will be held after Easter.  First session begins on Wednesday 25th February at 7.30pm in St. Fintan’s Parish Centre, Greenfield Road, Sutton.  Each session will consist of a video presentation followed by a conversation based on reflective questions.


The Annual Novena of Grace will take place in the Church, beginning on Wednesday 4th March.  Weds. 4th to Friday 6th March, Novena Mass at 8.00pm.  Saturday 7th March, Novena Mass at 7.00pm.  Sunday 8th March, Novena Mass at 12noon.  Mon, Tues, Weds and Thurs  9th to 12th March, Novena Mass at 8.00pm.  The Novena will be conducted by Fr. Piaras Jackson, SJ.


There will be Eucharistic Adoration at 4.00pm on the six Sundays in Lent, followed by Evening Prayer at 5.00pm.

Celebrating the Family Mass during Lent 2015

Lent begins next Wednesday, 18th February, Ash Wednesday.  During the six Sundays of Lent the Family Mass will have special celebrations.  Next Sunday, the first Sunday of Lent we will focus on the story of Noah’s Ark and the Rainbow of Hope.  The following Sundays will see celebrations for First Holy Communion and Confirmation preparations and Mother’s Day and Baptisms.  See the Family Mass notice board for more details.  Trócaire’s Lenten campaign this year focuses on climate change and its affect on a small area of Ethiopia.  The girl on the Trócarie Lenten box is named Mahlet and her family’s story can be found on the Trócaire website,   See the display board at the back of the church for other details.

EASTER EGGSTRAVAGANZA -  FUND RAISING AUCTION    in aid of the St. Francis Hospice, Raheny

Lent 2015  -  Walking the Word towards Easter

A series of Talks will take place in the Theology Room, Clonliffe College, Dublin9.  The first Talk takes place tomorrow, Monday, 16th February at 12.15pm.  Dates for your diary – Feb 24th, March 4th, 12th 16th and 23rd.  Fr. Kieran O’Mahony, OSA, will facilitate the programme and the focus will be on the Sunday Gospel Readings for Lent.  See the Parish Noticeboard for more details.

Exhibition of Rose Paintings in Watercolour by Michael Connaughton in the Baldoyle Library From Sat. 14th to Sat. 21st February from 2.30pm.  Also included will be the launch of a Poetry book called “12”, new and selected poems.  All are welcome.
