The Exaltation of the Holy Cross (36/14)

The local Conference of the SAINT VINCENT de PAUL Society will hold their monthly collection to-day – after all the Masses.

FAMILY MASS at 10.30am

The Family Mass is back after Summer break and everyone is invited to share and participate in our weekly celebration of the Mass at 10.30am every Sunday.  Any families or children who would like to be involved in the roles and special tasks within the Mass can meet members of the team at the back of the church before Mass, or at the altar steps after Mass any Sunday.  And…keep a lookout for our new Family Mass notice board.

CROSSCARE   -   the Social Support Agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin

The annual collection for COMMUNITY AND HOMELESS SERVICES will take place at all Masses next weekend, 20th /21st September and will replace the usual SHARE collection.

In aid of the Saint Francis Hospice, Raheny, on Thursday 18th September, in St. Columbanus Hall from 10.00am until 12 noon.  Tea/Coffee/Bumper Raffle with great prizes.  All welcome.

In February 1999, Mags Riordan’s only son, Billy was drowned in Lake Malawi in Africa.  He was just twenty five.  He had visited the small African country on several occasions and had grown to love the country, its people and in particular the village of Cape MacClear.  It was ironic that in his last letter to his mother, he referred to Cape MacClear as paradise.  He lost his life in paradise less than 48 hours later.  “This is Paradise” is the story of Mags Riordan and the Billy Riordan Memorial Clinic she founded in Malawi ten years ago, in memory of her son.  On Monday, 22nd September, the King Sitric Restaurant will host a Book Reading and Signing by Suzanne Strempek Shea.  The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 7.00pm and donations to the clinic will be gladly accepted and appreciated.  All are welcome.
