Sunday 14th December 2014

Third Sunday of Advent (49/14)

The Annual Christmas Collection for the Saint Vincent de Paul Society will take place to-day.  This collection will replace the usual SHARE Collection.

Advent is a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the coming of the Christ Child at Christmas.  In this spirit of preparation, there will on the remaining Sunday afternoons of Advent (December 14th and 21st) be a holy hour of silent Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at the Sacred Heart Altar of the Church from 3 pm to 4 pm followed by evening prayer to conclude by 4:20 pm.  It will be an opportunity to seek some time of prayerful peace and quiet reflection in the presence of Our Lord away from the hustle and bustle of the run up to Christmas.  Whether you can come for the full period or just for a short time you will be warmly welcome.

"Let us ask ourselves this evening, adoring the Christ truly present in the Eucharist: do I let myself be transformed by Him?” [Pope Francis in a homily]
