First Holy Communion 2013 The first Mass of preparation for children of the parish receiving First Holy Communion in May will take place at the 10.30 a.m. Family Mass to-day. This Mass will feature the enrolment of the children in the preparation programme, which includes a renewal of Baptismal Promises.
ANNUAL CHURCH UNITY WEEK 18th to 25th January 2013 The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity begins on Friday 18th January. Inauguration in Dublin will take place at an Interdenominational Service in the Church of Saint Thomas, Indian Orthodox Church, Cathal Brugha Street, Dublin 1 on Friday 18th January at 8.00 p.m. The theme, “What does God require of us” was chosen by the Christian Communities in India.
CATHOLIC TEACHING ON THE DIGNITY OF HUMAN LIFE AND REGARDING ABORTION UNITE FOR LIFE VIGIL A Unite for Life Vigil will be held in Merrion Square, Dublin on Saturday 19th January at 4.30 p.m. In advance of the Vigil, there will be a period of quiet prayer in Saint Andrew’s Church, Westland Row from 3.00 to 4.00 p.m. which will be attended by Archbishop Diarmuid Martin. All are welcome to attend.
“You shall be my Witnesses…”Parish Preparation for Confirmation Programme Next SUNDAY (20th January) at the 10.30 FAMILY MASS we will welcome the young people of the parish who will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation later this year. The young people and their parents will take an active part in the Liturgy on that day. Howth Parish Reform and Renewal GroupOur January meeting coincides with the First Cardinal Martini Memorial Lecture – ‘Cardinal Martini’s Legacy in the Irish Context’ - January 21st at 7.30 p.m. in Gardiner Street Church. We have decided, therefore, to attend what promises to be a very interesting night. The Speaker is the Rev. Professor Eamonn Conway, Head of Theology and Religious Studies, Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. Fr. Conway was appointed by Pope Benedict to be a Theological Advisor at recent special Synod of Bishops in Rome. Admission – donation. Anybody who requires transport on the night is requested to leave their name into the Sacristy or with one of the Leadership Team. In addition a number of cars will be leaving from outside St. Columbanus Hall at 6.30 p.m. on Monday 21st January. All are welcome.
