HOWTH PARISH
REFORM AND RENEWAL GROUP
‘In Search of
a New Model of Church’
Monday 20th
January 8.00 pm St.
Columbanus Hall
As
Pope Francis and his advisors consult with the worldwide Church on family
issues in preparation for the October 2014 Synod there is an atmosphere of hope
and expectation about the future. If a
‘New Model of Church’ emerges in the future what should that model look
like? What aspects of the current model
of church must be changed to facilitate the emergence of a new, more inclusive
model? What role can the laity play at
parish, diocesan, and wider levels in any new model of Church? What model of Church might offer hope to
those alienated and marginalised? The
evening will combine a number of personal reflections on these issues followed
by an open discussion. The agenda covers
a very wide range of issues and it is, therefore, intended to deal with the
issues over the course of a number of meetings. ALL WELCOME
