FAITH DEVELOPMENT TALKS - People
Questioning Faith: Faith Questioning People
The
second talk is Challenges to Faith Today: As Jesus contemplated the mission he
felt called to, He went through a time of agonising trial before He gave His
wholehearted “yes” to that mission.
Those who want to live inspired by the Gospel today face many challenges. We look at the environment and context in
which we live as Christians today. This
Talk will take place on Thursday, 14th February, in Saint Columbanus
Hall, at 7.30 p.m. followed by discussion.
The talks will be given by Fr. John Byrne and Dr. Bernadette Toal of
Orlagh Retreat Centre. All are welcome.

LENTEN BOOK CLUB – First
Sight: the Experience of Faith by Laurence Freeman
In his latest book, Laurence Freeman shows that the basic experience of contemplation is the experience of faith and that we all need to develop this in order to become fully human. We are all capable of it – indeed we are designed for it. Freeman re-defines faith for our secular age. He draws on his wide experience and travels in the modern world to show how a new sense of the spiritual dimension can transform the way we approach education, business, mental health, the environment, inter-religious dialogue and our view of ourselves in society. Meditation, he shows, offers an accessible and attractive antidote to the current cult of speed and distraction. We will be meeting on Wednesday 6th March at 8pm in Sutton Parish Centre for an informal chat about the book. For more information please contact James in Sutton parish office- 01 839 2001.
