National Eucharistic Congress in Knock on 25th June

Yesterday saw thousands of people from parishes all over Ireland gathered in Knock for special events, workshops, celebrations and prayer – including the Knock Youth Festival, which is running concurrently with the National Congress.  The celebration in Knock is seen as an opportunity to focus on the local community and on pastoral preparation in Ireland for the International Eucharistic Congress to be held in Dublin in June 2012.

The National Congress in Knock is an opportunity for parishes and dioceses around Ireland to come together.  Central to this National Congress will be the celebration of the Eucharist during which 26 candles were blessed, one for each of the cathedrals in Ireland.  These candles will be brought back to each diocesan cathedral and lit to celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi nationwide.

50th International Eucharistic Congress Communion with Christ and with one another

The third National Collection for the 2012 Eucharistic Congress will take place throughout the diocese today.  We thank you for your support to date.  We need the help of everyone so that the 50th International Eucharistic Congress 2012 will be a success.  This collection will replace the normal SHARE collection.  Please give what you can to assist us with the preparations and hosting of the 2012 Eucharistic Congress.  Further information on the preparations for the Congress is available on www.iec2012.ie

The First Saturday Prayers which are said in our Church each month are based on the Message of Fatima.  They are said on the first Saturday of each month after the 11.00 a.m. Mass and conclude before mid-day.  The prayers are part of the First Saturday Devotions of Reparation which include receiving Holy Communion and going to Confession.  The next Prayer Meeting will be on Saturday 2nd July and all are welcome to attend.

SIXTH CLASS GRADUATION
The pupils of Sixth Class in our Primary School – Scoil Mhuire will be graduating from the School tomorrow – Monday.  The Graduation Mass will be celebrated in the School at 1.00 p.m.  We wish them all every blessing as they move on to Secondary School.  A special ‘Thank You’ for all that they have contributed to Scoil Mhuire over the last few years.  Our thanks also to the teachers who have looked after them over the years and we are most grateful to the Sixth Class teacher – Ms. Audrey Clarke who has been so kind to all these young people.  We wish them health, happiness, success and God’s blessing on their futures.
