TRÓCAIRE EMERGENCY APPEAL
HELP THE PEOPLE OF SOMALIA, KENYA AND ETHIOPIA
In Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya, all the classic
indications of famine are starkly visible: people moving from their homes, the
emergence of serious levels of malnutrition now estimated at five times the
emergency threshold, and the sale and death of livestock, the most important
asset for these communities.
The Irish Bishops have decided to hold a collection in
churches to respond to the plight of millions suffering from the devastating
effects of drought in East Africa.
This collection will replace the usual Share
collection and will be taken up at all Masses in the Diocese this
week-end. Despite the severe economic difficulties
in our own country, any assistance you can give to this collection would be
much appreciated. Copies of the
Archbishop’s letter are available on the tables at the exits in the Church.

We are asking for volunteers to help us maintain the beautiful building that has been passed on to us. It is important that we have our Church looking well for Masses, Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals.
If you are interested in helping out, you will be very welcome. You can contact Barbara at the Parish Office Tel. 839 7398. Many thanks.

CONCERT ORCHESTRA
FROM ABERDEEN TO VISIT HOWTH IN AUGUST
We look forward to welcoming the Grampian Concert
Orchestra to Howth in August. The
orchestra, which was founded in 1998 is an established part of the Grampian
music scene in the north east of Scotland.
The members are amateur musicians from many different backgrounds and
are a mixture of students, retired, working and non-working people who have a
common passion for making music and sharing it with others. On Sunday 7th August, the
orchestra will present an evening of classical music in the Church (time to be
decided). If you would like to help plan
and prepare for this event, please contact the Parish Office – Tel. 839 7398
