Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time     (42/10)

Together in Mission

To-day is Mission Sunday and at the Family Mass at 10.30 a.m. we will be talking about the Society of Missionary Children whose theme is Children Helping Children.  The Society have a very special prayer for the day which is as follows
May all children In the world Share love Share friendship and live In the peace Of God's love Now and forever.
Our prayers and donations on Mission Sunday help to support mission projects and allow Catholic communities worldwide to become self-sufficient and progress according to their own needs and traditions.  A special collection will be taken up to-day in aid of the Church’s mission activities.  This special collection will replace the usual SHARE collection.  Thank you for your kindness in previous years.

HOWTH PASSION PLAY
2OTH ANNIVERSARY
This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the first presentation of the Howth Passion play “The Nazarene” by the Howth Community Group.  Over the years, in addition to playing in Howth, the Group also toured to a number of parishes in Dublin, to Cashel and most notably to Warrington in England as part of the Peace Project. This was a positive ecumenical project and involved not only adults and children from Howth and Sutton but also from adjoining parishes.

On Friday next, 29th October, to mark the 20th Anniversary and to celebrate the life of its beloved costumer Suzy Carolan who died in September, former members of the Group will meet for a re-union and a Mass in Stella Maris Retreat Centre (Baily, Howth) at 7.30pm.  Additionally, all other members of the Group now deceased will be individually remembered at the Mass which will be celebrated by Fr Dermot Clarke who was a member of the Group and played the role of an apostle when he was curate in Howth.  All former members are invited to attend, to remember old friends and to enjoy a reading of Suzy’s famous Passion Play diaries.  Since many of the younger members have moved away from Howth, it is hoped their families or friends will inform them of this event and pass on the invitation to attend.

For further information, contact Terry O’Connor (8325578), Joe Stewart (8325198) Sam Andrews (086.8385495). Des Gilroy (832 1644).  Transport can be arranged for those needing it.
