APOSTOLIC VISITATION OF THE ARCHDIOCESE OF DUBLIN

A Liturgy of Lament and Repentance for the Sexual Abuse of Children by Priests and Religious will be held in the Pro-Cathedral this – Sunday – afternoon at 3.00 p.m.

The Archbishop wishes to invite representatives of all our parishes to attend this Liturgy as we ask as a Diocese, the forgiveness of God and of all survivors for the failure of those Church leaders and many others in the family of the Church to respond with love, integrity honesty, understanding and compassion to the pain and distress of those abused.

The Liturgy has been prepared principally by survivors.  We pray that the Church will be purified of all scandal and corruption and renewed through the refining fire of the Holy Spirit.

The ceremony will be marked by simplicity.  Cardinal Seán O’Malley, Archbishop of Boston and Archbishop Diarmuid Martin will wash the feet of a group of people who have suffered in various ways as a result of abuse.

Next day out is next week with over 1000 Ladybirds Brownies Guides and Leaders all coming together for a fun afternoon in the Tallaght Basketball Arena.  Then a day at Semple Stadium in Thurles a day of activities and entertainment and over the year there will be sleepovers, camping, fun days weekends away and loads of activities at our own meetings.
Recently, many of our Brownies moved on into Guides and we now have vacancies in the St. Aideen’s Brownie Unit.  We meet in the Parish Hall on Saturday afternoons from 2.00 to 3.30.  Any girls aged 7 to 10 who would like to join, we would love to hear from you.
After paying €36 Affiliation fee which covers Insurance for the year you only need €1 a week.  At a meeting we do a lot of crafts, have fun while gaining all kinds of badges from Nature, Athletics to Swimming.  We have a good few day trips, weekends away, sailing BBQ’s and beach combing.  Any girls 7 to 10 year olds living in Howth/Sutton are very welcome to join us.  Please telephone Lua at 8391538.      Lua Clarke
