Third Sunday of Advent        (49/10)

SAINT VINCENT de PAUL ANNUAL CHRISTMAS COLLECTION
The Annual Christmas Collection for the Saint Vincent de Paul Society will take place to-day Sunday, 12th December.  This collection will replace the SHARE Collection.  The local Conference of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society are available at Tel. 087-163 7060.  They can be contacted in confidence if anyone would like to talk or needs help.

Third Sunday of Advent
There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 3.00 to 4.00 p.m. to-day followed by Evening Prayer and Benediction.

CHRISTMAS PARTY
HOWTH SENIOR CITIZENS
The Senior Citizens’ Christmas party will be held in the ABBEY TAVERN next Sunday, 19th December at 1.00 p.m.  Individual invitations are not being sent out but ALL SENIOR CITIZENS IN HOWTH PARISH ARE WELCOME.  It is asked that only Senior Citizens resident in Howth attend.  Those who require transport are asked to leave their names in the Sacristy.  Tel. 839 7398

PARISH OF HOWTH   -   CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE
This year’s Carol service will be held in the Church on Monday 20th December at 7.30 p.m.
Anne Sorahan will lead the choirs and we invite all singers who would like to take part to come to rehearsal to-day - Sunday, 12th December immediately after the 12 noon Mass.
The rehearsal will take place in the Church.

PENANCE SERVICE IN PREPARATION FOR CHRISTMAS
This year the Penance Service will take place in Howth Church on Tuesday 21st December at 8.00 p. m.  The Service will be conducted by Monsignor Eoin Thynne, Head Chaplain to the Defence Forces.  There will be a number of visiting confessors.


OUR DEAD
Please remember in your prayers JOHN CLANCY, who died recently.  We offer our sympathy to his mother Teresa and all the family.
We also pray for TOM FITZPATRICK who has died.  His wife Mary died two months ago. Funeral Mass on Monday morning at 11.30 a.m. and afterwards to Saint Fintan’s Cemetery.  We offer our sympathy to his four daughters and all the family.
May they rest in peace.

FRIENDS OF BALSCADDEN BAY
Christmas Day Swim at Balscadden Beach, Howth, from 11.00 a.m.  Come along to swim or to support those who are going to make a splash!  (Bring along a mug for a hot cuppa afterwards.)  Balscadden Beach clean up Saturday 18th December at 10.00 a.m.  Please come along to help and support.  (Many hands will make light work of it.)  (Under16’s to be accompanied by an adult.)

The Name Cards from the Memorial Board are available for collection in the Sacristy.

Nativity Pageant
The children of the Parish will present a Nativity Pageant on Christmas Eve in the Church.  The Pageant, under the direction of Pat Guinan and the Family Mass Group, will be presented during the 7.00 p.m. Mass on Friday 24th December.

HOLY COMMUNION FOR THE HOUSE BOUND ON CHRISTMAS MORNING
Our Special Ministers of the Eucharist will be bringing Holy Communion to those who are ill on Christmas morning after the 10.30 Family Mass.  Anybody with a relative or friend staying with them for Christmas and if that person cannot get to the Church, please let us know by contacting the Church Sacristy/Parish Office.  (Tel. 839 7398)  A Minister of the Eucharist will be happy to bring Holy Communion to the sick person.

CHRISTMAS CARDS
A Parish Christmas card featuring the beautiful Nativity Window in the Church is available to buy at €5 per pack of five.  Cards will be available after the 12.00 noon Mass to-day on the table at the back of the Church.

HOWTH PRIMARY SCHOOL SCOIL MHUIRE
Hallelujah Concert
Tomorrow evening, Monday 13th December, the pupils of Scoil Mhuire will be taking part in the Hallelujah Concert in the R.D.S.
Rehearsals for the concert have been on-going for several weeks under the guidance of Ms. Chapman and Ms. Heerey.  We wish them well as they prepare for their performance.
