First Sunday of Advent
There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 3.00 to 4.00 p.m. to-day followed by Evening Prayer and Benediction.
10.30AM FAMILY MASS DURING ADVENT
Advent is our time to get ready for Jesus’ coming at Christmas. We will place special emphasis on lighting the Advent Wreath each week. During this season we will focus on the themes of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. Each week we will have a Christmas tree decoration for the theme of the Mass. The children can take these decorations home and colour them in for their own tree. We have also prepared an Advent activity calendar for the children.
PARISH PROGRAMME OF PREPARATION FOR FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2013
The programme of preparation for children receiving First Holy Communion in 2013 begins with an information meeting for parents on Monday 3rd December in Scoil Mhuire at 7pm. All parents of children preparing to receive First Holy Communion in 2013 are invited to attend. This programme of preparation works with the home and the school to help both your child and your family to have a wonderful and meaningful First Holy Communion day. If a parent cannot attend please ensure a family member comes along to hear the details.
CHRISTMAS PARTY - HOWTH SENIOR CITIZENS
The Senior Citizens’ Christmas party will be held in the ABBEY TAVERN on Sunday, 16th December at 1.00 p.m. Individual invitations are not being sent out but ALL SENIOR CITIZENS IN HOWTH PARISH ARE WELCOME. It is asked that only Senior Citizens resident in Howth attend. Those who require transport are asked to leave their names in the Sacristy Tel. 839 7398
Holy Day – Saturday 8th December
Saturday is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses for the feast - Vigil Mass on Friday evening at 7 o’clock. Masses on Saturday morning at 8.30 a.m. 10.30 a.m. and 12 noon. Evening Mass at 7 o’clock.
YEAR OF FAITH - FRIDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY GROUP
As a practical way of participating in the Year of Faith you are welcome to join our Bible Study Group. The next session will be on FRIDAY 7th December at 11am in Sutton Parish Centre. In preparation, we will be reading JEREMIAH chapters 1, 4 and 5. ALL ARE WELCOME. “You shall be my Witnesses…” -Parish Preparation for Confirmation Programme
On SUNDAY 9th DECEMBER there will be a special ceremony of Enrolment for Confirmation at the 10.30 Mass. CHRISTMAS AUCTION IN AID OF SAINT FRANCIS HOSPICE, RAHENY
The St. Francis Hospice Auction Committee would like to thank sincerely the local businesses and all those who contributed and supported their recent auction held in the Abbey Tavern. The auction raised €13,768.60 for St. Francis Hospice, Raheny.
The generous contributions, donations, help and support on the day ensured once again another great success. A special thank you to those who volunteered and stepped in to help the committee on the day. Your help was invaluable and ensured the smooth running of the auction. This showed a wonderful community spirit and a very enjoyable day was had by all. Well done and thank you so much to everyone involved.

CAROL SINGING FOR SANTA
Next Sunday (9th December) Santa will come to light up the Christmas tree opposite the gates of the Church. We invite everyone to come along and join in singing carols for the perfect Christmas feeling. For all singers and musicians, we will have a quick practise of carols at 3.30pm in Columbanus Hall (everyone welcome!!) and the community singing will begin at 4.30pm on the steps of the Church. Gather round then from 4.30pm as we wait for Santa!
