SHARE  -  SUPPORTING PARISHES THROUGHOUT THE DIOCESE

Do you have a memory of the Eucharistic Congress of 1932?

Did you as child or as a young adult attend the 30th International Eucharistic Congress in Dublin in 1932?  If you are among the relatively few who can answer yes to that question, the organisers of the 50th International Eucharistic Congress 2012 would love to hear your memories. A special event Gathering and Remembering 1932 is being organised at the Brennan Green Isle Hotel beside the Naas Road at Clondalkin from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm on Monday 23 April to which 1932 Congress participants are invited.  This complimentary event begins with tea/coffee and includes an opportunity to share your memories from 1932, to attend Mass and to enjoy a hot lunch.  There will also be the opportunity to book a complimentary ticket to attend either the opening ceremony of this years Congress in the RDS on 10-June or the closing Statio Orbis in Croke Park on 17-June.

If you were there in 1932 and wish to avail of these offers, please phone Aoife in the Secretariat of the 50th International Eucharistic 2012 at (01) 234-9940 by 18 April.  If you know of someone who qualifies, please bring this opportunity to their attention.  For more information visit www.iec2012.ie

Parish preparation for Confirmation programme

This week the first of four of the young peoples’ sessions of the above Parish preparation for Confirmation programme takes place.  It will be held in Scoil Mhuire at 7.30pm.  The young people are divided into four groups and two adult volunteers lead each group.  The leaders are Julie Anne Haines, Christine Molloy, Linda Neilan, Susan O’Kelly and Joanne Steele, all parents of the Sixth class students and Aoife Nic Lughaidh, Margaret Rickard, Betty Sewell, Warrick Sewell, parishioners.  They have all undergone an Archdiocesan training programme and we wish them all well as they prepare for the sessions.  The first session deals with the Theme of Belonging.  Together the leaders and young people explore what it means to belong to the Church.  A question for each of us – How do I belong to my Church?

Valerie Darby, Mags Rickard and Kay Burke, Coordinators
