SUTTON PARISH PREPARATION FOR THE EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS

PRAYER AND REFLECTION ON THE EUCHARIST

As part of their parish pastoral preparation for the Eucharistic Congress, an evening of prayer and reflection will take place on Friday 25th  May at 8.00 p.m. in Saint Fintan’s Church, Sutton.  All are welcome to spend some time together giving praise and thanks for the Eucharist – the source and summit of the Christian life.

AFTERNOON OF ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

An afternoon of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take place on Friday 8th June in Saint Fintan’s Church from 2.00 to 8.00 p.m. with a Holy Hour from 7.00 to 8.00 p.m. concluding with Benediction.

IEC 2012 - PILGRIM WALK TO SEVEN DUBLIN CHURCHES

Pilgrim walks to holy places have long been a feature of Christian life. Not only is the destination spiritually significant but the shared journey itself is a time for contemplation and prayer.

In conjunction with IEC 2012 a Pilgrim Walk taking in seven of Dublin's oldest churches is being organised. They are St James’s, James St., The Augustinian Church, John's Lane, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Whitefriar St, St Ann’s (Church of Ireland), Dawson St, St Mary of the Angels, Church Street, St Michan's, Halston St and St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral, Marlborough St. At each church, parishioners will be on hand to greet pilgrims and tell them something about the church. Then pilgrims will be invited to spend a quiet time in prayer. At the first church visited, participants receive a pilgrim's passport that will be stamped at each visit.. The walk can be made at any time from 2nd to 16th June either in a single day or over any number of days. Churches may be visited in any sequence except that the Pro-Cathedral should be the last visited. This is to obtain a certificate of completion on presentation of your stamped passport.  On each day there will be a Pilgrims' Mass at 5:45 pm at the Pro-Cathedral.

This is a wonderful opportunity for both Dubliners and pilgrims to the IEC to get in touch with the City's Christian roots. The walk may be done individually, as family or as a group, as people wish to organise themselves. There is no charge but an offering to defray costs may be made at the Pro-Cathedral.
