COVID update 19th September 2020

Due to the imposition of level 3 restrictions in Dublin on 19th September 2020 all masses and other church services have been cancelled for at least three weeks. The church will remain open for private prayer each day (except Tuesday) from 10am to 4pm.

All COVID related precautions such as hand hygiene, social distancing and the wearing of masks remain in effect. The area of the church which is open for private prayer will be cleaned each day prior to opening.

Daily Mass (without a congregation) will be transmitted at 10am from Sutton parish by webcam and can be watched on a computer at home by logging on to www.stfintansparish.ie. Sunday Masses can also be found there at the usual times of 6.30pm Saturday and 10am and 12.30pm on Sunday. Other Sunday and daily masses can be found on www.churchservices.tv There are also radio and television Masses available.

Funeral masses can take place during this period of level 3 restrictions, but masses are private and limited to a maximum of 25 people.

Unfortunately, we have also had to cancel the Confirmation ceremonies planned for 26th and 27th September. We look forward to celebrating this special sacrament with the candidates and their families when conditions allow.

Latest update on COVID-19 situation – 26th July 2020

Government restrictions in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, along with Diocesan and HSE guideline continue to guide our actions here in the parish.

  • There is a maximum limit of 50 people in the church at any time.
  • Funerals are private to family and close friends of the deceased.
  • Daily Mass at 10am except on Tuesdays when church is closed, or in the case of a funeral Mass which is private.
  • The booking system for Masses is being suspended as of 25th July due to the numbers in attendance being below 50 on most occasions. Instead we will operate on a first-come basis for all masses. We remind you that the obligation to physically attend Sunday Mass remains suspended. Therefore, you may like to attend Mass during the week when numbers in attendance are smaller. Stewards will continue to assist at all events in the church.
  • Hand sanitising and 2 metres social distancing must continue to be observed.
  • The wearing of face masks is recommended.
  • The church is cleaned before every Mass, Baptism or Wedding. Baptisms will take place at 1.30pm to allow for full cleaning of the church after the 11.30am Mass (please note this change in time for Baptisms).
  • St. Columbanus Hall will not re-open for public use before September. The appropriate cleaning, hygiene and social distancing protocols will have to be in place for all activities that take place there. The PPC COVID-19 response subcommittee is working on these protocols.

More volunteers are required to join the stewarding and cleaning teams. Please contact Barbara on 01-8397398 to volunteer.
